The customer service representative acts as an intermediary between insurance companies and commercial customer insurance buyers. They advise customers on the insurance policies that best suit their customers needs. The representative may specialize in one type of insurance coverage, such as (health), Commercial property, (life) auto or Workers Compensation, or they may be well versed in several forms of Commercial insurance coverage. The representative must obtain/maintain a valid Property and Casualty Insurance license in the state of operation and meet all insurance department requirements such as continuing education, etc.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prospecting, cold calling, networking and other means of client development for purposes of building a client pipeline and book of business.
Receive and act on referrals from other lines of business within the bank as well as generate referrals back to those lines of business.
Negotiate coverage pricing and conditions to meet client needs. This includes requesting coverage additions, changes and amendments, as well as preparing and reviewing documents such as proposals, quotes, submissions, spreadsheets, insurance documents and other materials.
Utilize technology and software applications including agency management systems, document management systems and workflows. Includes coordinating and communicating client service needs, directing and assisting team members as needed.
Review proposals and policy documents for quality assurance requirements in accordance with proper procedures.
Respond to internal and external service inquiries and take ownership to provide problem resolution.
Comply with policies and procedures and adhere to service standards and timelines.
Associate's Degree in Business or similar is required with a Bachelor's Degree Preferred.
Four years of additional sales experience may substitute for degree.
Three or more years experience in Insurance sales and service, with at least one or more in commercial lines preferred.
Active and familiar with the market and business community within which the representative will operate.
Property and Casualty license in the state of operation.
Professional demeanor in appearance, interpersonal relations, work ethic and attitude.
Possess clear, concise, effective written and oral communication skills to effectively express thoughts, ideas and concepts to employees, customers and senior management.
Ability to organize and set priorities to ensure completion of workload.
Good time management skills
Detail oriented, self-motivated with strong proofreading skills.
EMPLOYEE SKILLS, DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Proven skills with the Internet and Microsoft Office products to include, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Previous experience with Agency Management Systems.
