Position Overview:
The James Allen Companies Inc is actively recruiting for a Commercial Placement Specialist on behalf of a well-established insurance organization in Richmond, VA. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced commercial lines professional to manage placement and carrier relationships, drive new business quoting and binding, and provide high-level support to agency partners in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review incoming submissions and determine viability based on underwriting guidelines, carrier appetites, and timelines.

• Quote and bind new and renewal business for commercial lines, coordinating with carriers and preparing proposal documentation.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with agency partners across the assigned territory.

• Collaborate with regional leaders to identify and act on cross-sell opportunities.

• Educate clients on coverage options, pricing, and risk management considerations.

• Track open items, correspondence, and outstanding quotes to ensure timely policy issuance.

• Maintain organized and compliant electronic files per established standard operating procedures.

• Deliver excellent service to all agency and carrier stakeholders.

• Support the team in achieving premium production goals.

• Participate in special projects and tasks as directed by leadership.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent of 8+ years of relevant experience).

• Minimum of 5 years of commercial lines insurance experience.

• Active P&C license required; additional insurance designations are a plus.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with Applied Epic is a bonus.

• In-depth knowledge of commercial insurance products and carrier markets.
