Research & Product Development Analyst

Title: Research & Product Development Analyst

Reports to: Senior Manager of Research & Product Development

Position Objective: The Research & Product Development Analyst is responsible for property and casualty research and insurance product, planning, development, implementation for projects to meet internal and external organizational goals. This person is responsible for conceptualizing and leading projects and programs to fulfill strategic and operational goals.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Provide research and forms analysis for company and affiliated organizations
  2. Draft primary forms and endorsements
  3. Lead the ongoing development of enhancements to support increased value to clients
  4. Research and analyze product data and feedback from clients, underwriting, business development, and partners/prospects to promote vision for existing products and development of new products
  5. Execute research to further support rationale for product development and to develop intelligence about industry coverage trends
  6. Author timely articles and white papers on trends that may impact clients
  7. Develop internal processes to define the product strategy, roadmap and priorities
  8. Research, develop and implement best process strategies for new product development, launch and analysis
  9. Develop requirements documents and use cases for new product features
  10. Monitor the status of development projects supporting new features
  11. Conduct analysis and develop expertise on other products in the marketplace; such as coverages, features, pricing, and other information
  12. Provide guidance and direction to internal managers, including actuarial, underwriting, claims, and business development for developing new products and managing the lifecycle of existing products
  13. Build relationships with staff to enhance the understanding of product needs and to facilitate implementation of changes
  14. Provide ongoing support and product customization for existing portfolio of products
  15. Other duties as assigned

Education, Experience, and Skills Required:

  1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  2. Seven years of experience in in underwriting, product development, or other P&C product-related insurance or reinsurance discipline
  3. Strong knowledge of the P&C insurance marketplace
  4. Proficiency with Microsoft Office; especially Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  5. Strong written communications skills including drafting policy language and other insurance related documentation
  6. Strong verbal communication skills including a willingness to communicate clearly with clients and colleagues both one-on-one and in group presentations
  7. Proven track record of product development, implementation and management
  8. Ability to produce reports and presentations; both internal and client-facing
  9. Self-starter with strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail and organization
  10. Team player with ability to problem-solve and willingness to partner with others to find solutions

Education, Experience, and Skills Preferred:

  1. Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter designation
  2. ARe, ARM or other industry risk designations
  3. Knowledge of data visualization and analytics, especially Power BI, is a plus
