Senior Accountant – Financial Reporting

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES: Financial statement close, financial statement analytics, preparation of internal and external financial statements, reinsurance reporting and project participation of onboarding new systems and products.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

• Monthly financial statement close assignments, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations focusing on property and casualty insurance premiums, commission and losses
• Development and maintenance of financial statement management, discussion and analysis, both internally and externally
• Assists in the creation of quarterly financial statements for internal and external use
• Attends continuing education annually to maintain and grow knowledge specific to the Company’s systems and statutory accounting principles
• Develops and maintain reinsurance reporting, including bordereaux and internal management analysis
• Continues to seek out opportunities to make current processes more efficient
• Assists controller on financial statement impact analysis and testing when onboarding new systems, entering new territories and launching new products as a Company

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Bachelors in accounting, CPA or CPA track preferred.
• 5-7 years’ of relevant experience, including public accounting if applicable, financial services industry a plus
• Experience in general ledger software and financial reporting software
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Excellent analytical skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Experience in maintaining and developing interdepartmental relationships
