JOB DESCRIPTION – Senior Accountant – Statutory Investments
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES: Financial statement close, financial statement analytics, preparation of internal and external financial statements and project participation of onboarding new systems and products.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Monthly financial statement close assignments, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations focusing on property and casualty insurance premiums, commission and losses
- Development and maintenance of financial statement management, discussion and analysis, both internally and externally
- Management relationship with investment management third party, Clearwater
- Validation and delivery of statutory investment schedules
- Assists with treasury and custodial transactions
- Assists with data reporting for investment-related presentations
- Assists in the creation of quarterly financial statements for internal and external use
- Attends continuing education annually to maintain and grow knowledge specific to the Company’s systems and statutory accounting principles
- Continues to seek out opportunities to make current processes more efficient
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelors in accounting, CPA or CPA track preferred.
- 5-7 years’ of relevant experience, including statutory investment accounting
- Experience in general ledger software and financial reporting software
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Experience in maintaining and developing interdepartmental relationships
