Positive Messaging Makes the Difference: Taking Opportunities to Inspire

Positive messaging might be more important now than at any other time in recent memory. In the wake of our initial encounter with the COVID-19 global pandemic and the cautionary messaging that followed, we’re all a bit burnt out and tired of hearing how potentially dangerous our world might be.

We understand the risks, we’ve read the articles, seen every YouTube video on the subject, but as a company and more widely as a country, I don’t see us turning around, going home and hiding from the future any time soon. We’ve built our businesses, firms, agencies and organizations by being bold and determining which risks are acceptable.

Now is a time that we take that relevant information, prepare ourselves as best we can for a future that isn’t any more uncertain than it was yesterday, by the way, and move past this into a new day that is really full of promise—if you know where to look. Positive messaging will allow your agency or your business to stand out from the gloom and doom we’ve seen far too much of these past weeks.

The insurance industry is all about being prepared for adversity, disaster and the unexpected. It exists to give folks the means to overcome what they never could have seen coming. Our job is to make sure you can do that as effectively as possible—and it’s what we’re going to keep doing.

The biggest part of positive messaging is being present, staying active in your business communities, encouraging your colleagues and competitors to carry on, be productive and keep thinking in innovative and competitive ways. The foreseeable future is not the place to hide or be static. It is a place to burst into and try new things and old methods that help your business grow. Now, maybe more than ever, there is room to develop and evolve. An entire waiting population is watching.

The opportunity to be more than background noise, to inspire and encourage is a powerful one. You have the chance to be present for clients and consumers who are all looking for someone to be there for them. There’s no way around it. It has been a weird few weeks, but if you want to, if you put the effort in, if we craft our positive messaging well, you can make a difference in someone’s day that will resonate with them for years to come.

When they needed to hear words of encouragement, you were way ahead of them. Your brand and business will be synonymous with making them feel good, feel safe and feel thought of. That’s not providing an excellent service—it’s positive messaging that builds trust.
