Senior Business Systems Analyst

General Summary
As a member of the IT development team, the Senior Business Systems Analyst is responsible for delivering technical implementation tasks for business operations, configuring software, building and testing applications, and supporting system implementation initiatives. This role documents and explains implementation concepts to both technical and business teams.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Design software configurations to meet business process design and application requirements.
- Elicit, analyze, and document requirements and functional specifications as needed, including determining system impact and software configuration needs.
- Participate with business units and internal teams throughout the development, testing, and implementation processes.
- Research and evaluate alternative approaches and recommend efficient, cost-effective solutions.
- Define business needs and gather business requirements.
- Produce artifacts that accurately depict business needs for product implementation, including business requirements and process flow diagrams.
- Prepare test strategies and test plans, then execute accordingly.
- Perform QA testing for configuration, software modifications, reports, dashboards, and third-party integrations.
- Work with developers, designers, and architects to ensure configurations and custom components meet application requirements and performance goals.
- Understand the functional impact of various configuration options.
- Perform other related duties and activities as required.
Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience in malpractice insurance or property and casualty insurance.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience as a Business Analyst.
- Experience with SQL and other report-writing tools.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of policy administration or claims administration system implementation experience.
- Extensive experience with software applications, including Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Experience implementing an insurance software platform is a plus.
- Origami Risk platform experience preferred.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly interpret and relay information in a professional manner.
- Strong ability to gather, organize, analyze, and present data.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
- Proven record of complex problem solving and decision making.
