Senior Claims Representative (Full Time)
Location: Jacksonville, FL (Hybrid Schedule Available)


Overview:
A medical professional liability insurance carrier is seeking a Senior Claims Representative to join their team. This role involves managing a complex caseload of medical malpractice claims and supporting cross-functional operations within the company. The ideal candidate will have strong litigation management skills, excellent communication abilities, and experience handling high-severity claims across a variety of medical specialties.


Key Responsibilities:

Claim Handling

  • Analyze and identify potential coverage issues

  • Select and manage defense counsel

  • Coordinate initial consultations between insureds and counsel

  • Retain and consult with medical experts

  • Review and evaluate medical records

  • Oversee litigation and communicate regularly with defense teams

  • Attend depositions, court conferences, mediations, and trials

  • Maintain detailed internal reporting and claim documentation

  • Provide updates to reinsurers on claim status

  • Communicate consistently with insureds throughout the life of the claim

  • Develop and execute resolution strategies

  • Negotiate settlements directly with plaintiffs or their counsel

General Duties

  • Stay current on legal developments, industry trends, and claim practices

  • Use technology to improve productivity and claim outcomes

  • Foster collaboration across the claims team and other departments

Operational Support

  • Assist with compiling and analyzing claim data

  • Participate in company-wide initiatives and projects

  • Attend company-sponsored events and support business development efforts

  • Communicate claims insights to underwriting for risk evaluation


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Minimum 7 years of casualty claims experience, with at least 2–3 years in medical professional liability preferred

  • Experience handling claims in Florida, Georgia, and/or Texas strongly preferred

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Proven ability to manage complex litigation and collaborate with legal teams

  • Must be comfortable traveling for depositions, meetings, mediations, and court appearances

  • Active Claim Adjuster’s license in applicable states or willingness to obtain

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite


Work Schedule:
Hybrid schedule based in the Jacksonville, FL office:

  • In-office: Tuesday to Thursday

  • Remote (optional): Monday and Friday (after 90-day onboarding period)

  • Travel required for external appointments
